JEJAK-TABI EXCHANGE 2020: A Lifetime Experience

     In order to promote social discourse, dialogue and potential social change, Capiz State University joined a two day symposium theatre workshop spearheaded by Jejak- Tabi Exchange on January 24-25, 2020.

Jay Ramon M. Alayon, Mica Alondra Montano and Jansen Jay Francisco, students under the program of Bachelor of Physical Education Students participated in the said workshop together with their professors, Dr. Rodyard Madiclum, Prof. Angeline Vestidas, Prof. Rogelio Flores and Prof. Mark Sibug.

     JeJak-Tabi Exchange (JTE) is an exchange platform created in 2018 by Akane
Nakamura (Tokyo), Helly Minarti (Yogyakarta) and How Nigean Lim (Kuala Lumpur/ Ballarat) to be an intimate platform for contemporary performing artists in Asia to share, exchange and explore critical ideas and practices in the framework of connecting two particular cities/contexts through a set of critical questions. 

     This Workshop help the students and teachers to be aware and sensitive towards various issues, it is useful to improve creativity because it teaches people how to express ourselves more effectively.

     On the first day of the symposium theatre workshop is about Theater Movement in South Asia Japan held at AVR, Colegio de la Purisima Concepcion, Arnold Boulevard Campus. 

     The last day focused on Morfosis:Understanding the Theater Basics facilitated by MJ Apatan held at Gerry Roxas Foundation Training Center. 
     
      This Morfosis: Understanding the Theater Basics is alecture on understanding what theater is, what separates it from other art form, how to better appreciate and understand theatrical productions in various styles and how it can function as a critical tool in shaping and changing the political, religious, and economic landscape of our society with the help of Ms. MJ Apatan, the participants become familiar with the basic elements and basic stage areas and grasp theater concepts and terminologies.
     
      After the symposium theater workshop, the students gained new knowledge and ideas on what is Theater, how it is performed and why theater is connected to society. 

      The seminar workshop ended with joy and memories to be treasured by the participants.
