 ‘a roller coaster ride’- Dr. Labado on graduating 3rd DOST – PCAARRD (TCMS)

    College of Management Dean, Dr. Rosine O. Labado on May 28, 2021 graduated in 3rd DOST – PCAARRD Technology Commercialization Mentorship Series (TCMS) done via Zoom platform.

    "Attending to this training is just like a roller coaster ride--I have learned a lot of things from this experience. I’ve learned to unlock my creative side. I need to do the activities despite the meager facilities. I was lucky Engr. Julito Albaladejo and Ma’am Princess Palawan were always there to motivate and assist me in every way" said Dr. Labado in an online interview.

    Labado was one of the two selected participants from the Capiz State University together with 10 others from five different Universities in the whole Region.

    “Dr. Efren L. Linan, VP for Research Development and Extension (formerly the Director of Intellectual Property Management Office), approached me sometime in March 2017; I was hesitant to attend due to my dissertation. I have promised Dr. Linan that I will participate in the training when I finish my doctoral degree. InAugust 2020, Engr. Julito Albaladejo called me and reminded me of the promise I had with Dr. Linan. I entered into a contract with the University that I will attend training related to Intellectual Property,” she recounted.

The Mentorship Series was a 26-day training that started from January 25 – 29, February 22 – 24, 26 and 28, March 18, 22 – 26, April 26 – 30 to May 24 – 28 of this year. The activity aimed to harness faculty and researchers on how to evaluate their technologies and sell them to possible investors.

                 CAPSU Burias conducts Science Festival 2021 via online

    Despite challenges, the Advocate Leaders of Science Association (ALSA) of the College of Education Department of Capiz State University- Burias Campus celebrated Science Festival 2021 on May 26-27, 2021 with the theme “Millennial Embracing Science in the New Normal” via Google Meet and Facebook Live.

    “This event only proves a very important fact, that nothing could stop a creative mind, nothing could stop an innovative mind, nothing could stop an enthusiastic mind. Indeed,… if there is a will, there will always be a way”, said Dr.Genalyn L. Baranda, Dean of the College of Education.

    The activity aims to enunciate the significance of Science amidst the pandemic, to encourage students to appreciate its uses, enhance students’ skills, talents and ability especially on Science related activity and let them explore the different fields of Science.

    The festival is composed of different contest namely, Poster Making, Kalikasan Attire with four categories, Earth, Water, Fire and Air, Tiktok Dance Challenge and Cosplay. Through these students was able to show their amazing skills and and talents.

    The efforts and commitment of the Advocate Leaders of Science Association officers, members and adviser paid off as they successfully ended the activity.

 CapSU earns 1st PH higher education Internationalization Award

        The pursuit to excellence continues as Capiz State University was recognized as one of the awardees of the First Philippine Higher Education Internationalization Award last May 19, 2021 via Zoom. It recognizes the concerted efforts of the Higher Education Institutes to uplift quality education and nurture its learners and graduates who can adapt to and compete in the fast and changing demands of the work force.

        Among the hundred nominees of this internationalization awards, CapSU was one of the 17 awardees who have displayed innovativeness and creativity, impact and responsiveness, and inclusivity and sustainability. It was spearheaded by the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) in collaboration with Commission on Higher Education.

        “With our concerted action as a university, CapSU is fortunate to partnership with various International partners that saw merit in our works and dedication to our advocacy and sincerity in our goals to collaborations” stated by Dr. Editha C. Alfon, SUC President III during her speech of gratitude in the awarding ceremony. “It is with great joy to be chosen as winner in the 1st Philippine Higher Education Internationalization Awards, this is an affirmation that the work, time, and effort contributed by each and every one in CapSU is indeed at park with the standards set by the commission. This recognition will serve as a fuel to further ignite the burning passion and dedication that the men and women of CapSU have”, Dr. Alfon added recognizing the effort of the faculty and staff of CapSU.

    The impressive networking and linkages of CapSU among ASEAN Countries and its commendable concepts of Internationalisation results to tangible projects that was recognized by the national arena will surely help the HEI in making sure that the learners and graduates be globally competitive.

    The Internationalization program of the university is seeing massive leverage under Dr. Mary Ann B. Martelino as Vice President for External Affairs and Linkages.

    The awarding ceremony will be held on May 20 2021 during the CHED Anniversary Celebration.

"I felt so blessed" Dr. Labado on winning International Award

    College of Management Dean, Dr.Rosine O. Labado won Best Paper Presenter Award during the 1st PREO-International Research Conference on Business, Management, Hospitality, Tourism and Social Science (1st PREO-IRCBMHTSS) with the theme: "Harnessing the Culture of Research in Academic Institutions" held on May 15 – 16, 2021 via Zoom platform.

    "I felt so blessed since I had lots of things in mind during that time. All I wanted was to present at an international level; winning was a great bonus--that day, my prayer was answered with a premium" Dr. Labado said in an on-line interview.

    Labado was one of the 44 qualified presenters from the countries of Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia that went through screening process and interview. In the final round, Presenters were given 12 minutes to present and 3 minutes for Q&A portion.

    She presented the research paper entitled "What Does It Take to be an Academic Manager: An Assessment". The study was about the managerial practices of academic heads of the different State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in Panay. A descriptive – correlational research administered among 118 permanent faculty in the island.

        The said Conference was organized by Pampanga Research Educators Organization-City College of Angeles in partnership with Universiti Teknologi Maria, Malaysia and Research Synergy Foundation, Indonesia  aiming to provide a forum for researchers, educational leaders, policy makers, industry practitioners, and civil society groups to share leading edge practices and other valuable insights for socio – economic development across the ASEAN Region.
