CapSU Burias: Battling Against COVID19 thru Initiative and Support

In a loud voice, expressing their desperate plea and outcry, Filipinos struggle to fight and rise against the COVID19 pandemic that had the world begging for mercy. People have witnessed the increasing number of deaths, sacrificed their time and cried for hunger for so many weeks. It is as if everyone has become hopeless and forgotten the spirit of unity.

For the poorest of the poor, this pandemic will be yet another suffering against which the global order failed to protect them. Moreover, the strong pressure and unceasing demands for the various frontliners to continue serving the community led to anxiety.

Undeniably, the world is in great despair. Fear and confusion started to consumed the minds and hearts of the humanity, complaints and bad remarks are everywhere.
Until, selfishness turned into selflessness, as people around the globe are stepping up to help ease the pain and clamor against COVID19 in small or big ways.
Capiz State University Burias Campus remains true to its commitment - to serve as they launched initiatives to support the country’s' efforts against coronavirus disease pandemic.

The institution clearly understands that this is a call for assistance, a time to lean on each other, opening their arms to connect and reach out to anyone assisting them in anyway they can.

The outpouring help and assistance coming from the faculty, staff, students and alumni have been visible and was immediately materialized after the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

The collaboration with the Municipal Government and other agencies paved the way to reach out and deliver their help to the frontliners and the people.

A total of 455 food packs with bottled water were given to the frontliners in MDRRMO Office, Minoro, Tugas, Bunga, Burias, Tumalalud, Poblacion Proper, Poblacion Tabuc, Mambusao District Hospital, Bureau of Fire Protection, Rural Health Unit, Mambusao PNP and Manibad starting March 30 - April 6, 2020. This simple act of generosity was able to provide a simple lunch and dinner to these modern heroes.

CapSU Burias did not stop from reaching out to the community, a gesture of affection was also extended to the CapSU Burias job order personnel and needy families who are suffering in this challenging time.

On April 8-10, forty-four (44) relief goods were individually delivered to the job order personnel and fifty (50) needy families containing rice, misua/molo, canned goods and noodles while three (3) job order personnel who reside in Dao received a cash gift worth of 500 pesos.

Moreover, the university showed their support  to the four (4) students who were stranded following the government-ordered enhanced community quarantine by giving them relief goods. They hope to ease the burden and bring joy to the hearts of these young people.

Fifteen (15) relief goods were also delivered in Villareal St. Mambusao, Capiz for the 15 river control construction workers from Antique who were also affected of the enhanced community quarantine on April 9, 2020.

In the face of global health fatality, the COVID19 pandemic, Dr. Salvacion J. Legaspi of Capiz State University Burias Campus in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture- Capiz Research Outreach Station at Sigma, Capiz headed by Mrs. Lilia Penaranda has initiated to distribute variety of seed packs on April 13, 2020 to bolster the farmers and households' economic predicament with the objective towards self-sufficiency and sustainability in the midst of global health issue. It includes vegetable seeds of okra, squash, cucumber, luffa (patola), green beans, baguio beans, lima beans, cabbage and malunggay to name some.

Hearts were pierced, tears were shed but this pandemic will never stop the people to lend a helping hand and rediscover the true spirit of generosity, bringing out the best in humanity.
CapSU Burias hopes to receive more support and blessings from their faculty, staff, students and alumni who are willing to accept the call of volunteerism, the best way to care and to share from the heart to helping hand.
