A SMOOTH RIDE AHEAD: UNVEILING THE NEW ROAD THAT ENHANCES CAMPUS CONNECTIVITY AND ACCESSIBILITY

    The rumble of motorcycles and the chatter of students have always been a familiar soundtrack at Capiz State University (CAPSU) Burias Campus. But this year, a new melody has joined the chorus - the smooth hum of cars and soft walking sounds navigating the newly-constructed road in the campus near the canteen, the College of Management, and the Department of Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering.

    The steps taken in making our dreams come at their truest have always been a critical part of gaining a triumphant victory. But what if the way that you're taking is slippery? Messy? Or worse, not safe enough to support your whole journey? 

    That is exactly what the CAPSU Burias Administration realized when they decided to make a joint effort to construct a new road on the Campus. 

    For years, the path was the most unlikable way to take when people on the Campus were strolling around, going back and forth from different buildings, or heading home. Even though it may seem to be the most convenient route, they would never choose to cross such a road that looks mediocre, mundane, and muddy, especially when a rain shower pours. You wouldn't want to navigate treacherous terrain, risking falls and delays, would you? 

    Furthermore, the lack of proper lighting posed safety concerns, particularly for students walking alone at night. The old road was a constant reminder of the need for improvement, a need that the University Administration was determined to address. And yes, they did it! 

    This paved path has been a long-awaited addition to the school's infrastructure, which has brought a massive wave of change, impacting not only the daily lives of students but also the overall atmosphere of the school community. A wide, convenient way that provides a safe and efficient route for everyone to go for a walk or travel.

    Seeing its artistic vibe, we can say that it not only provides a dedicated access point that alleviates congestion but also offers an instagrammable and captivating view as a continuous and narrow road. As the road is lined with vibrant landscaping of a greener environment, it surely looks aesthetically pleasing and has an inviting atmosphere.

   As CAPSU Burias continuously grows and evolves, the new pathway will stand as proof of the University's dedication to its students and its unwavering commitment to progress. Now, it will not be known simply as a newly constructed campus landscape but as a symbol of a journey toward brighter futures that students, faculty, and staff will be looking forward to.

 WIKANG FILIPINO: KASANGKAPAN NG KALAYAAN AT PAGBABAGO

    Noong Agosto 29, pinangunahan ng Sinag ng Lahi at Wika (SILAW), isang organisasyon mula sa Kolehiyo ng Edukasyon, ang pagdaraos ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2024 na may temang "Filipino: Wikang Mapagpalaya" sa pamamagitan ng sari-saring patimpalak at aktibidad na naglalayong ipahiwatig ang kahalagahan ng wikang Filipino bilang kasangkapan ng kalayaan at pagbabago.

    Ang selebrasyong ito ay alinsunod sa Proklamasyon Blg. 1041 na nilagdaan ni dating Pangulong Fidel V. Ramos na isinasaad ang pagsasagawa ng mga makabuluhan at napapanahong aktibidad na may kinalaman sa wika at kulturang Pilipino.

    Sa kaniyang pambungad na mensahe, binigyang-diin ni Prof. Jose Sandy C. Zaragosa, Tagapayo ng SILAW, ang kahalagahan ng pagkilala at pagmamahal sa Wikang Filipino at aniya, "Nandito tayo ngayon upang ipakita ang ating pagmamahal at ang ating taos-pusong pagkilala sa wikang Filipino na siyang nagbigkis sa atin, nagbigkis sa buong Pilipinas, ang Pilipinas na kung saan mayroong may higit isang daan at pitumpung wika."

    Nagsimula ang pagdiriwang sa Parada ng Pagkakaisa, kung saan ang mga estudyante, guro, at mga miyembro ng komunidad ay naglakad suot ang makukulay na kasuotan, at Rampa ng Kalayaan, na nagpakita ng iba't ibang tradisyonal na kasuotang sumasalamin sa mga dakilang bayani na nagbigay ng mahahalagang kontribusyon sa bansa.

    Ipinahayag naman ni Dr. Romulo N. Lagon, Dekano ng Kolehiyo ng Edukasyon, ang papel ng wika sa pagtataguyod ng dangal at pagkakakilanlan at nararapat lang na “isabuhay natin ang ating wika bilang simbolo ng ating dangal at pagkakakilanlan habang tayo'y patuloy na humahakbang sa pag-unlad at pagbabago at mas makatarungan at makataong bayan. Sa paggamit ng ating wika, hinuhubog natin ang isang lipunang may malasakit at may tunay na kalayaan para sa lahat."

    Upang higit pang maipakita ang mahalagang papel na ginagampanan ng wikang Filipino sa iba't ibang aspeto ng buhay ng tao at nang lubos pang magbigay ng inspirasyon sa mga manonood, naghatid ng isang talumpati si Dr. Mary Jean A. Apuhin.

    Ipinabatid ni Dr. Apuhin na "ang wika ay isang punyal na matalim, punyal na kumikinang sa pagsapit ng gabing madilim. Ang kuhulugan nito ay sumisimbolo sa isang utak na magaling na ginagamit at umuunlad hangga't patuloy na umiikot ang mundo. Habang tayo ay nabubuhay, ang wika ay naroroon lamang."

    Nagpatuloy ang selebrasyon sa pamamagitan ng iba’t ibang mga aktibidad na inorganisa ng SILAW, tulad ng Tulak ng Bibig, Husay sa Pakikinig at Tagisan ng Talino, at sa hapon naman, ang mga patimpalak na Likha-Larawan, Tinig ng Makata, Tatak Pinoy na Musika, at Dula-Dulaan na nagbigay pagkakataon sa mga mag-aaral na ipakita ang kanilang galing at talento sa sining at literatura.

    Ang pagdiriwang ay nagtapos sa isang makabayang pangwakas na mensahe mula kay Daveson P. Fabro, Pangulo ng SILAW, na ipinaalala ang kahalagahan ng pagkakaisa at pagmamalaki sa sariling wika bilang bahagi ng pagbuo ng isang mas matatag na bansa.

 CAPSU BURIAS JOINS LOCAL RELIGIOUS FIESTA

    On August 15, Capiz State University Burias Campus demonstrates commitment to community and culture by actively participating in the annual Barangay and Religious Fiesta of Brgy. Burias in honor of St. Roch, wherein faculty, staff, and students, together with Sangguniang Bayan (SB) Members, Barangay Officials, Sangguniang Kabataan Officials, Barangay Tanods, Senior Citizens, 4Ps Beneficiaries, and local residents, engaged in a parade led by the Hugyaw Cultural Group and Bachelor of Physical Education (BPEd) Organization, who rendered cultural dances.

    The day’s program began with a solemn prayer led by Rev. Fr. Jed V. Odrunia, Parish Priest of St. Roch Parish, followed by the singing of the National Anthem, Capiz Hymn, and Mambusao Hymn, conducted by Prof. Irene S. Sequinto, College of Education Faculty Member, and the welcome remarks delivered by Hon. Philip P. Launio, Punong Barangay. He welcomed everyone on behalf of the Barangay Council and expressed his deep gratitude for the active participation of the barangay officials and all attendees, acknowledging the collective effort that made the festivity a success.

    Moreover, Dr. Rodyard B. Madiclum, Campus Administrator, represented CAPSU Burias and conveyed his appreciation for the community’s unwavering support.

"Aton gid panginbulahan ang tanan-tanan nga mga tawo diri sa pagpasanyo diri sa Brgy. Burias. Sa tanan, salamat gid at mayad-ayad nga agahon manakarya kaninyo tanan," Dr. Madiclum expressed.

    Afterwards, the playground demonstration commenced, featuring a series of dance presentations by the Feelinials Group and Child Development, Agkawayan Integrated School, and Burias Elementary School Pupils. 

    SB Member Ann Labao, speaking on behalf of Mambusao Mayor Luzviminda A. Labao, also spoke before the attendees highlighting the significance of the event as a platform for students to showcase their talents.

    According to her: "This playground demonstration is truly an avenue for students to showcase their talents. This event will give us all a positive and enjoyable experience that contributes to our physical and social well-being. Today, I stand before you as a friend, reminding you that this event is not just about showcasing dance moves and interesting choreography, but it is also a platform for our students to cultivate teamwork, discipline, and daily mission."

    On the other hand, SB Member Fatima T. Tupaz shared her sentiments, emphasizing the importance of the religious fiesta in strengthening community bonds.

Lastly, SB Member Florendo L. Launio, Sr., who also serves as the Barangay Consultant, encouraged the community to continue supporting such initiatives that bring people together in celebration of shared culture and values.

    Dr. John King N. Layos, College of Agriculture and Forestry Faculty member, served as the master of ceremonies.
